The School Improvement Program at Roscomare Road Elementary School will continue again this year.  Parents and other community persons are needed to serve on the School Site Council (SSC) to advise and assist in student, staff and community assessment; to organize and participate in parent education projects; to increase communication between the home and school; and to keep the community informed about the school.

School Plan
The school plan is developed with input from staff and members of the different councils and advisory committees.  The plan describes the needs of the students, and goals to increase achievement.  It covers mandated programs for supplemental services, such as---Compensatory Education, Master Plan for English Learners (Bilingual Education), School Improvement Program, Gifted and Talented Education, and Special Education.

School Governance
Several councils and committees govern the school.  These groups meet on a monthly basis to discuss school and district policies, and activities.  School staff members, parents and community representatives comprise each group.  Meetings are scheduled in the afternoons; meeting notices are sent home with your child.

Your willingness to be part of our school’s leadership groups is essential to the overall functioning of our educational program.  Please consider becoming a member of one of these groups.

School Site Council
This council has ongoing responsibility to review with the principal, teachers, and other school personnel and students the implementation of the School Improvement Program and to assess periodically the effectiveness of the program.  The SSC shall receive the necessary training to enable it to carry out its responsibilities to develop, monitor, and modify the plan and the budget.  Members of committee include the principal, school personnel and parents.  Half of the committee membership is to be parents and community.
