Each year, elections are held to have students vote for candidates that have expressed interest in running for Student Council positions. Two teachers act as Advisors to the Student Council, and help them organize fundraising efforts and community enrichment projects.
In early October, there will be "interest meetings" held for 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade students. Any students who go on to the final elections, which take place in November, must write a short speech, make a poster and turn in all materials on time.
Positions include: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Spirit Leaders, and more! Also each classroom for 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades will have two representatives and two alternates. They will be chosen after the formal elections.
Student Council meetings are twice a week during recess, usually Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In the past, our Student Council has organized Toys For Tots drives, Book Drives for schools devastated by Hurricane Katrina, and much more!r via email, personal phone call or Connect-Ed telephone bulletin. |
