Dear Roscomare Parents,

Roscomare Road Elementary School’s 50th Anniversary Celebration is
fast approaching on Friday, January 26, 2007!

Volunteers are needed to assist with this important school event and,
while helping with the day’s activities, can enjoy a function not
otherwise open to parents!

We hope that volunteers will embrace the bygone era and come attired
to greet alumni in 50’s clothing. Break out that poodle skirt,
initial sweater, bomber jacket, and jar of Dep! It will be a blast
for all those involved and your kids will surely enjoy seeing you
dressed to bop.

An outline of the day’s activities are provided below. Please review
the schedule and furnish your availability via e-mail to Elaine
Hussey before January 12. We need to know if
you are available for the entire event, or if there are specific time
frames you wish to volunteer. We are in great need of help with the
VIP parking and traffic control that morning.

The 50th Celebration will consist of an elongated morning assembly
with guest speakers, followed by class rotations through concurrent
50’s themed fun and games.

Volunteers will be assigned to the following areas:
1. Parking for the VIPs in the morning from 7:30 - 8:30am
2. Parent volunteers (in costume preferably) will act as guides for
the classroom game rotations involving the Elvis DJ and emcee.
Depending on size, classrooms and grades may joined for each break
out activity to allow for everyone to participate in all the events.

Games include a Frisbee toss, record pass, bubble gum blowing
contest, hula hoop contest, giant game of twister, and 50’s dance
instruction (Hokey Pokey, Bunny Hop). Each volunteer will be assigned
a particular activity to help Elvis lead it.

Our wonderful Hospitality Committee will provide an assortment of
delicious foods and beverages available for both volunteers and alumni.

The very tentative break out schedule begins after assembly and the
yard is clear – so – our start time will be fluid and will determine
the timing of when the grades rotate through. We are allowing
approximately 45 minutes to and hour for each grade:

10am-10:45/11am: grades K-1
11/11:15am - 12/12:15: grades 2-3
1/1:15pm - 2/2:15pm: grades 4-5

Please e-mail your availability as soon as you can, before January
12th, to make sure you get placed on the volunteer list. This will
be a fun event for volunteers and students alike!
